Things You Should Know

  • 85% of domestic violence victims are women.

  • Intimate Partner Violence is most common experienced by women between the ages of 18-24 (38%), followed by age 11-17 (22.4%), age 35-44 (6.8%) and age 45+ (2.5).

  • Intimate Partner Violence is most common experienced by men 18-24 (47.1%), followed by age 25-34 (30.6%), age 11-17 (15.0%), age 35-44 (10.3%) and age 45+ (5.5%)

  • 92% of perpetrators used substances on the day of the assault. In another, the odds of an attack were 8 to 11 times higher on days the perpetrator used substances. Learn More here.

ECONOMIC ABUSE

Research from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence note, between 94-99% of survivors have also experienced economic abuse. Far too often, survivors must choose between staying in an abusive relationship or face economic hardship.

Milie's Manor, Inc uses the empowerment model, which advocates for client choice and is applied to all of our clients.  Additionally, we implement the Housing First approach as it complements the empowerment model to ensure our clients have stable housing and advocacy.
