A social entrepreneur, educator, author, advocate and founder of Milie’s Manor, Inc.; a social enterprise for gender-based violence. Dr. Dawn Michaux James has worked in the field of higher education, social services, and mental health. She received her BA from Vanguard University, MS from National University and PhD from Trident University.

Dr. Michaux James uses a client-centered approach, psychoeducation, and motivational interviewing to engage and empower clients toward self-discovery and to be the best version of themselves. Additionally, she gleans from a strength-based perspective which builds on restoring optimism and hope to clients facing adverse circumstances.

She specializes in Gender-Based Violence; Trauma & PTSD, Women Issues, Sexual Abuse/Assault and Human Trafficking. She integrates techniques of CBT, Hope & Poetry Therapy, Positive Psychology, Faith-Based, and Trauma-Informed modalities to empower her clients and improve their quality of life.
